~ William Butler Yeats

This is the essence of coaching, as I practice it. If you want a coach to stretch and challenge you, then you have come to the right place. So , welcome! My name is Mary Miller and I can help you and your organization envision and create the future you want – for yourself, your business, or your employees.

Coaching

Executive/Leadership Coaching

As a business coach, I can work with you to achieve greater success for you and the business. I have worked in and with a variety of businesses and organizations, and I have learned this: the entity is only as strong as the people working in it. This is true at all levels. Here are some of the many challenges I have seen in business.

Business Coaching

It is not news that people spend most of their waking hours working. It is news to some people that this time can be filled with purpose and passion, energy and excitement, laughter and life. And, sometimes, you have to try several different careers before you find the right one for you!

Transitions

It’s Your Life ~ Live It Fully

As your life or personal coach, I provide you with time and space to focus on yourself and your future. I listen deeply and without judgment to who you are. I walk along with you as you explore your options and the vibrant path that is right for you.

Take Action

So how can a coach help you or your organization?

People hire coaches for many reasons. In my experience, these reasons all come down to one common thread – people want to make changes in their lives and businesses. They want to think differently and do differently. They want to find a better path to get from where they are to where they want to be.

Strategic HR

To build and maintain a healthy, productive workplace and an organizational culture that attracts and retains top talent, you need your human resources function to be strategic. So, what exactly does that mean?

Strategic HR means many things and can be summarized as the alignment of HR strategies, policies, and activities with long-term business goals. This includes . . .

  • Intentionally shaping a culture that is builds trust and engages employees at all levels, linking them to “the Why” of the business;
  • Developing people by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth and a framework that sets people up to succeed; and
  • Ensuring that policies and communications are clear, decisions that impact employees are fair and made in as transparent a manner as possible.

If you want your HR function to transform your organization by helping to drive behaviors tied to your desired business outcomes, then you need more than legal compliance – you need strategies!

Use your mental energy wisely

Today, I have been thinking and worrying, actually, about a situation in which I have virtually no control.  I reminded myself to stop and figure out what part I do have some control in and decide what action I want to take.  Then, I reminded myself to let the rest of...

About Mary

Mary has been coaching executives, managers, emerging leaders, and forward-thinking individuals since 2001. She brings unique perspectives to her clients based on her past experiences including her work as an attorney and a human resources executive.

She stretches clients to generate insights into themselves, to expand their skills, and to explore all the possibilities open to them. She has worked with organizations at all stages from start-up to mature/exit, ranging in size from small to multi-site/multi-state/multi-country operations.

Mary enjoys helping progressive organizations be more effective through development of their leaders and managers. These entities include businesses that produce and/or sell ‘green’ products and services, nonprofits that improve the environment and people’s lives, and organizations that integrate sustainability and social responsibility into their daily operations.

When she’s not coaching top talent, she’s pampering her animal companions, spending time in nature, and volunteering in her local community.

“My coaching sessions with Mary have been invaluable on both a personal and professional level. Although it would be useful in the short-term to just get advice from her, that is not how she operates.

Instead she helps you work through an issue in detail and look for a variety of solutions and pick the one that may work best. This is a much more empowering and useful approach because of its long-term benefits.

Mary is also very empathetic with a great sense of humor so one feels comfortable to share personal, possibly painful, details quickly.

I have very much enjoyed my time with her and am grateful for her support and guidance.”

Stephen M.

Company Director

“For me, the power of coaching is realizing I already have the tools to face obstacles, both professionally and personally. With Mary’s help, I have been able to appreciate and celebrate my successes while thinking more critically about my challenges.”
Shannon C.

Program Manager, Washington DC

“I started coaching about a year ago and it has helped me to grow both personally and professionally. It has truly worked on all aspects.

My personal and professional life has improved greatly through coaching sessions. It has helped with me control road rage and help with me dealing with the teen-age years of my son. It has also helped me professionally. From managing up and conducting more productive meetings to realizing my self-worth and my worth to the company.”
